Starting a Photography Blog: Documenting My Journey as I embrace my passion, strive to learn more and build a career.
Lesson number one: “It’s True What They Say”
“When you do what you love, you never work a day in your life!” ….The saying I had heard so many times growing up and yet always refused to believe. Honestly, thank goodness I was wrong!
Over the last ten+ months working as a professional photographer I have learned so much. Not only about photography, but about myself. Photography has become so much more than a high school hobby—it's become my passion, a way to freeze moments and tell stories. As I embark on this new chapter, I’m excited to share my journey through a photography blog that captures the essence of my growth and experiences. Documenting not only the fun and creativity of an artistic career, but the hard work, dedication and lessons I will be sure to learn along the way. From mastering Photoshop to diving into local events and embracing the beauty of the desert, this blog will document it all.
In the beginning, like most photographers, I had to learn the technical aspects—how to use my camera and understand lighting, angles, and composition. All terms I studied in High School as I was a member of the Schools Media Academy. I’ve always been someone interested in the arts, sciences and technology. But I never imagined I would fall back into it in my mid twenties only to realize that, had I not rushed into the hustle and bustle of being an adult I would have found my passion was right under my nose. From the day my late grandfather bought me my first camera I felt a connection to the creative career path. But let us not dwell on things of the past. What’s exciting is the future and the fun I hope to share with anyone I can along the way.
Since I started work at Olson Photography in February of 2024, I have learned so much! I am so thankful to finally be doing something I love in a positive work environment, surrounded by creative and encouraging people. In later posts I will go into more detail about the pride and appreciation I have for my teachers/bosses. For now, I want to note how proud I am to be doing something I love everyday. I will use this Blog to document the skills I learn, the milestones I reach and continue to encourage others to pursue things that heal, guide and build them into the best person each of us can be.
You’ll notice on my Gallery page I have photos for sale from local sporting events and other miscellaneous categories. As my skills improve, I will begin branching out into local events more often. Whether it’s capturing the energy of a community festival, the excitement of a sports game, or the beauty of desert landscapes at sunset, I love providing quick shots that document the fun and energy of the moment. The desert, with its vibrant colors and breathtaking scenery, is the perfect backdrop for showcasing local events and the joy of life here.
Through this blog, I’ll share not only my photos but the lessons I learn along the way, from the technical to the creative. Whether you're a fellow photographer or someone looking to document your own adventures, I hope my journey inspires you to grab your camera and capture the world around you.
